First Impressions
My first impressions of these notebooks has always been extremely positive. They all feel really well made with quality materials.
The outside cover is sturdy and could easily withstand being thrown in a purse or book bag. The notebook also lays completely flat when open. This is a really big deal for me! Many of the previous notebooks that I have used do not do this, and it made it extremely difficult to draw the layouts.
The Notebooks From Scribbles That Matter That I Have Used
At the time of writing this blog post, I have used two of the notebooks in the Scribbles That Matter lineup which I will be reviewing below.
The Starry Night Notebook
This notebook comes with black paper instead of white paper and is my current go-to notebook for my Bullet Journal! Since the pages are dark, you need to use gel pens to draw your layouts. When I first purchased the notebook, I was worried I would struggle to draw my Bullet Journal layouts on the dark paper, but I fell in love with it!
Take a peek here at some of my most recent Bullet Journal layouts in this notebook!

No matter what colour combination I use, all of the layouts turn out so bright and beautiful which I absolutely love.
These notebooks come with all the features you would want your Bullet Journal notebook to come with including numbered pages, bookmarks, index pages, and more!
The thick craft-style paper is perfect for using Gel Pens on! The paper absorbs the gel quickly without taking away from the vibrant colours of the pens.

The A5 Iconic Notebook
This particular notebook is their original design notebook and is known for the doodles that can be seen on the cover of the notebook! It comes with everything you would want a Bullet Journal notebook to include like bookmarks, numbered pages and more!
I purchased this notebook to test my different Bullet Journal layouts for the blog, and I have absolutely loved the quality of the paper and how the layouts look! Here is a peek at some of my favourite layouts in this notebook.

I have used a wide variety of pens in the notebook including Tombow Dual Brush Pens, Zebra Mildliners, Sakura Micron, and more. All of the colours have shown up really rich and vibrant on the paper, and there is absolutely no bleeding to the other side of the paper.
If you want a Bullet Journal notebook that doesn’t have doodles on the cover, Scribbles That Matter also has their A5 Pro Version which has all the same features as the Iconic version, but comes with a solid colour cover without doodles.
The Different Notebook Features
All of their notebooks are premium, quality made notebooks that come with tons of amazing features! These features are particularly great for anyone who wants to use these notebooks for their Bullet Journal like I am.
- Numbered Pages
Indexing your layouts is an important part of Bullet Journaling, and the numbered pages make it really easy to do. I have purchased four notebooks in total to date, and none of them have had any issues with their page numbers.
2. Pre-Made Layouts
These notebooks come with a key and an index in the front, as well as a page to test your different pens on in the back.It is nice to have these layouts done in advance for you.
3. Bookmarks
Bookmarks are a handy feature for marking where you are in your journal, and these notebooks come with two ribbon bookmarks. I personally keep one of my bookmarks on the monthly overview page, and the other bookmark on my current weekly layout as these are my most commonly used layouts.
4. Back Pocket
The Scribbles That Matter notebooks also come with a pocket in the back. These pockets are handy for storing a flexible ruler, stencils, receipts, notes, etc. This feature can be especially useful if you take your notebook out with you a lot.
5. Pen Loop
Another feature that is really nice for anyone who takes their notebooks out of the house with them often is a pen loop. These notebooks come with a strong pen loop for you to store your daily pen with you!
6. Flat Lay Binding
The binding in these notebooks allow you to lay the notebook completely flat. This feature is especially important when you are drawing your Bullet Journal layouts!
Choosing Your Notebook
There are currently three notebook types in the Scribbles That Matter line-up. I have provided a brief overview of the key differences below. They all come with the same features noted in the section above!
A5 Iconic Notebook
This notebook comes with the white paper inside and doodles on the cover. There are a wide variety of colour options for the cover, so be sure to look at the different colour options before making your final purchase!
A5 Pro Notebook
This notebook is the exact same as the Iconic notebook, but comes with a plain cover instead of the cover with doodles! They also have a wide variety of colours for this particular notebook for you to choose from!
Starry Night Notebook
This notebook comes with black paper and a solid white cover.
